Internship at the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Severe Mental Illness

Date

2024

Location

Shanghai

Since 2024, I have been conducting research at the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Severe Mental Illness, under the guidance of Professor Cui Donghong, Executive Director of the laboratory and a professor of brain science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. My work focuses on exploring diverse methods for brain remodeling—approaches aimed at understanding and potentially improving neural function in individuals with severe psychiatric conditions.

Through hands-on experiments, literature reviews, and data analysis, I have gained valuable insight into the complex interplay between brain structure, function, and mental health. The internship has also strengthened my ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, combining neuroscience, psychology, and clinical perspectives to address challenging research questions.

This experience has shown me the transformative potential of neuroscience in addressing mental illness. Working at the forefront of brain science has deepened my understanding of how innovative research methods can contribute to both scientific knowledge and patient care. It has also reinforced my commitment to pursuing interdisciplinary approaches to mental health challenges in the future.
